Auditions
The directing, producing team of Diane Brokenshire and Lynne Jamieson are excited to announce auditions for:
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (definitely not the musical!)
June 21 and 22, 2010
7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Guild House, 80 Queen Street South, Hamilton.
Show dates: October 1 - 16, 2010
This exciting adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher which premiered in 2008 is designed to be performed by 6 actors - 4 men (ages 20-80) and 2 women (age 20+). One actor plays "Jekyll" and no other role, and one actor plays "Elizabeth" and no other role. But all four of the other actors -- including the other woman -- double, with each playing "Hyde" at some point.
Set in London, 1883. "This is not your grandfather's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In this version, the dark Hyde indeed comes out, and he is evil beyond measure. But not all evil: He loves, and is loved. Too Jekyll isn't the pure soul we've come to believe him to be. This is a play that honours the original, but gives a more complex interpretation of the dual nature of man. A dark and disturbing story liberally peppered with humour".
Please prepare a two-minute monologue for the audition. You will also be required to read from the script. This is an exciting opportunity to flex your acting muscles!
